Metro, Goldwyn and Mayer,or Simply MGM, is an American media company, involved primarily in the production and distribution of films and television programs. MGM was founded in 1924 when entertainment entrepreneur Marcus Loew gained control of Metro Pictures, Goldwyn Pictures Corporation and Louis B. Mayer Pictures. It was once one of the largest and most glamorous film studios.
As I have chosen the genre of psychological thriller for my main task, MGM is relevant to my choice of genre as it has produced many films such as Carrie and Hannibal.
The gold in the logo connotes success and achievement which suggests that the company is very successful and achieved a lot throughout its existence since 1924. The colour gold also suggests that MGM produces 'gold' material as they have produced some of the best films which include The Wizard of Oz, San Francisco (The top grossing film of 1936) and Ben-Hur. The Lion in the logo has connotations of pride. This could suggest that MGM are proud of their company and the films they produced.
